Cleaning the water fountain:

The water fountain should be cleaned once a week using a soft sponge and a mild soap. Rinse well to avoid leaving traces of the soap behind. Remove the filter and rinse well. The filter should not be cleaned with soap. If the filter contains any dirt or other foreign substances, it should be replaced. (Replacement filters are sold separately.)

The filter should be replaced every three weeks or as soon as you see signs of foreign substance saturation (dirt, bits of old food, hairs, etc). Filters may need to be changed on a more regular basis if the filter depending on the environment, water quality or if it is serving several animals.
